We’re in the doldrums of winter, where you may be fantasizing about the big adventures you’ll plan once the weather turns warm again! From the beach to the mountains, getting some time away from home is a great way to recharge your batteries and enjoy the sights and sounds of parts unknown. But until spring travel time rolls around, why not be a tourist right at home? The area around your Dalian on the Park apartment is a magnet for tourists—so before you pack your bags to check out what other locales have to offer, now’s a great opportunity to stay put and see what all the fuss is about in your very own town!

One of the most interesting spots in our neck of the woods is the Philadelphia Museum of Art, a half-mile from your Dalian on the Park apartment. While you may have passed the mammoth building countless times, and may have even visited in the past, set aside time to really absorb the artwork at the museum, which is frequently rotating.

In operation since 1876, the Philadelphia Museum of Art is one of the nation’s most renowned art centers. Home to thousands of prized pieces, the museum quite literally has something for art lovers of all stripes—and even for those who wouldn’t consider themselves art appreciators! The museum is home to the largest collection of works by Marcel Duchamp and the most renowned display of sculptures by Auguste Rodin. From Impressionist to Modernist and everything in between, works span all genres and tastes. There are even ceramics, furniture and spectacular period rooms to give visitors a taste of certain historical movement.

Visitors this spring don’t even need to pay the admission fee to take in the museum’s latest exhibit: STAND by Antony Gormley. Ten cast-iron sculptures will be set up along the top of the museum’s front steps—made famous worldwide by the movie “Rocky.” So even if you’re trying to save some cash for your next big trip, head over to the museum, take a run up the steps like the city’s favorite boxer and take in a little art.

Before you start daydreaming about your future travel plans, check out what’s right in the backyard of your Dalian on the Park apartment!
