The days are getting longer, the birds are chirping and the snow is finally all gone! That means one thing: Get outside!

Philadelphia takes that advice to heart this spring, with a series of outdoor festivals (and a few indoor events!) designed to get locals engaged, entertained and educated all while they soak in the beauty of the season. You may have spent the winter hibernating in your Dalian on the Park apartment but it’s finally time to get out and about and see all that the city in spring has to offer.

 

Philadelphia Science Festival: The annual nine-day festival celebrates all things science, all across the city. Take a “Fizzics Class” April 22 at Yards Brewing Company, 1.5 miles from your Dalian on the Park apartment, where you can see the science behind some of your favorite brews. Later that day, hop aboard a Science Crawl through Fishtown, a nerdy beer-lover’s dream! Enjoy drink specials while watching or taking part in science demonstrations and activities. Stop by the Reading Terminal Market, one mile from your Dalian on the Park apartment, April 26 for “Brain Food,” a science-focused food fest. Wrap up the festivities April 28 at the Carnival on the Parkway, a massive, outdoor science celebration for all ages located one block from your Dalian on the Park apartment.

 

Cherry Blossom Festival: This festival, held April 7-15, celebrates Japanese culture right here in Philadelphia. Events are held throughout the week, such as sushi-making competitions, cultural performances and tours of the Shofuso House, 3.5 miles from your Dalian on the Park apartment. The celebration culminates in the April 15 Sakura Sunday, an all-day event at Horticulture Center in Fairmount Park, 3.5 miles from your Dalian on the Park apartment. Take in live music and dance or try your hand at Japanese crafts amid a backdrop of the beautiful cherry blossoms.

 

Jazz Festival: April is Jazz Appreciation Month, and Philly celebrates with the Center City Jazz Festival. On April 28, more than 20 jazz bands perform across the city, including at Time, 1.5 miles from your Dalian on the Park apartment, and Fergie’s Pub, 1.5 miles from your Dalian on the Park apartment. One ticket gets you in on all the action.
