Celebrate St. Paddy’s Off the Beaten Path
Picture of Celebrate St. Paddy’s Off the Beaten Path

One of the biggest party days of the year is almost here!

The area around your Dalian on the Park apartment goes completely green in March, as Irish revelers, and those who are just Irish for the day, don their shamrocks and hit Center City for St. Patrick’s Day. The holiday falls on a Saturday this year, so the pub crawls and parties will be especially celebratory.

While St. Paddy’s partying is always a good time, if it starts to feel like the same green-tinted celebration year after year, why not change it up a bit for 2018? There are lots of ways to show your Irish pride outside of pub crawls, including:

Kiss Me, I’m Irish and Gay: One of Midtown Village’s biggest St. Patrick’s Day celebrations doubles as a fundraiser. The March 17 party at U Bar, 1.5 miles from your Dalian on the Park apartment, raises funds for qFLIX, the region’s LGBT film festival showcasing local diverse talent. The annual St. Paddy’s party features raffles, music, food and drink specials, with tickets going for $25 at the door or $20 in advance.

Historical Society of Pennsylvania: Celebrate Irish heritage by learning more about it at the state’s historical center, located 1.5 miles from your Dalian on the Park apartment. The venue hosts thousands of historical documents and items tracing the rich history of the city and state, including the role of Irish-Americans.

Brave the Shave: Keep the St. Patrick’s celebrations going the week after the big holiday at the March 25 “Brave the Shave” party at Fado Irish Pub, one mile from your Dalian on the Park apartment. Locals are encouraged to turn out and lose their locks in a fundraising party for St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which supports research into childhood cancer. The parties are held throughout the country, so don’t miss this opportunity in our neck of the woods to show your support. Shaving your head is just one way to contribute, as partiers can also donate money, sign up to volunteer for the organization and learn more about the work of St. Baldrick’s.
