BYOB to Sister Cities Park for Summer Series
Picture of BYOB to Sister Cities Park for Summer Series

As the summer sizzles on, options abound for ways to enjoy the city’s many outdoor hot spots without breaking too much of a sweat.

Pairings on the Parkway is one such opportunity. Located at Sister Cities Park, a half-mile from your Dalian on the Park apartment, the weekly BYOB event is held Thursdays through Sept. 15.

Each week starting at 5 p.m., a different singer-songwriter will provide the background music for your post-work chill time. Here’s the lineup for the rest of the summer:

Aug. 3: Brian Fitzy

Aug. 10: Christine Havrilla

Aug. 17: Tim Williams

Aug. 24: Matt Santry

Aug. 31: John Grecia & Drew Nielands

While enjoying the live music, locals are invited to break out blankets, picnic baskets and their favorite bottles for some post-work chill time in the shade of Sister Cities Park. Drinks from Chaddsford Winery will also be available for purchase, either by the glass or bottle. Logan Square Café, situated right in the park, rolls out a special summer-grilling menu to complete the backyard barbecue feel.

If you’ve got youngsters with you (or want to get in touch with your inner child!), the Children’s Discovery Garden has extended hours during Pairings on the Parkway. The park within a park offers a pond where visitors can sail their own model boats — or buy them at the park for a small fee — a book cart offering children’s reading materials and winding paths and streams and rocks where kids of all ages can climb, jump and watch the summer sunset.

Whether you bring kids, a significant other, a group of friends or just want some me time, Pairings on the Parkway is a great way to relax and recharge.
